I have been thinking a lot about the fact that my R2-D2 alarm clock has a plastic security seal over the battery compartment to keep the battery case from being removed. I was wondering if there was some reason the Lucasarts official website stopped selling R2-D2 alarm clocks?
I'm not aware of any problems with the alarm clock's battery compartment or battery but it is used a lot and was a very popular item.
What I've thought is that there was some new update or other change that meant that the alarm clock no longer worked with the ROTJ game and other new products but that didn't really make much sense to me.
